What are good group exercises that would encourage participation and productivity?

As the newly elected president of my fraternity's chapter, I will be hosting a summer retreat to plan the upcoming events and projects we would be having during the school year. However, I also want to incorporate group ice breakers and activities that will motivate my fraternity brothers to be active, put in work and overall be great assets to the organization. So my question is, what activities and projects can I do that will motivate my brothers and send a message that all this is vital for a successful organization? Your advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks

  1. set up alittle summer league thing for children and teens. it promotes your frats image and gives the impression that its great to go to college, have smart friends, and its cool to help ppl. grab some kids up and work with them. i mean it teaches the kids that team work is awesome and it gives you guys (all of you kids/men) the idea that being apart of something deeper than yourselves, benefits everyone in a society. its a challenge, and believe it or not you learn alot about working with kids and their psyche.
  2. depending on the nature of your organization you might want to do something that is quite big in terms of work that has to be put in it. if you have a musically inclined fraternity you might want to prepare a mini concert or something and give the funds to charity. not everybody is required to participate in the actual show but some might be in production and scriptwriting or stuff. a play is a good thing too. or maybe if you are a little physical do a cleanup drive in your community. anything that has to be done with lost of efforts from lots of people will do. just make sure you will assign stuff to the people that you think may perform the duties well so that they will somehow enjoy doing the task assigned to them. you will not be only motivating your buddies but also helping people.
