In what ways did Shakespearean and modern theater influence the world?

I'm doing a report comparing and contrasting how Shakespeare's theater and modern theater influences certain areas like politics, culture, technology, etc. What are good topics to look into? So far I'm only using how it influences the world socially. What else would work well?

1. Well...every child studies at least one shakespeare play in school. Most of the world knows the story of Romeo and Juliet.
