Coworkers? Argh - do you have a coworker who has an annoying laugh and they are the ones who laugh the most?
How to stop coworkers from stealing my ideas? I work in a 3 person team. My two coworkers are best friends. I suggest something they both put it down. Then when we meet with our supervisor, all of a sudden my idea becomes one of theirs and they get all the credit!
How do you deal with a coworker who is constantly telling her coworkers that her Dad molested her? I'm not heartless but its inappropriate for a grown woman to tell anyone who will listen my Dad raped me! Its usually an excuse like I don't trust people because my Dad raped me or I have a temper because my Dad raped me and it messed me up.As an adult I can say I have been raped but I would not dream of telling my coworkers or using it as an excuse for things. Its getting old. How to deal with this person?
How do you ignore one of your coworkers gossiping bad things about you? When a new coworker talks smack about you behind your back with other coworkers, what do you do? They purposely ignore you and roll their eyes at you in front of customers. And they act as if you are wrong about everything and their right even though their new? Then you get in trouble by the manager for no reason! Is that right?
How do I politely ask coworkers to stop using air fresheners? I don't have asthma, but I have very harsh reactions to the spray air fresheners my coworkers use. The bathroom is right by my office door and every time someone uses it, it is sprayed. I keep my window open, however I still get itchy eyes and a cough that lasts well into the evening when I am back at home. It's very hard to breathe. I don't want to cause a fuss because I am just the summer student here. But I don't know how to bring it up. Is clean air too much to ask for?
How do I be nice to coworkers that keep telling my how wide Im getting? Im 6 months pregnant & i have gained about 8-10 lbs so far. Which I think is not that bad. But my coworkers (who i love)keep telling me (on a daily basis) how big my butt is getting & how wide I have gotten. At first, I just blew it off & laughed with them. But it is becoming redundant & hurtful. To the effect, that I came home from work yesturday & cried. How should I handle this situation in a classy & polite manner?
How do you break pregnancy news to coworkers and boss at work? I have read that you should tell your boss first, so that he doesn't hear it from someone else first. But I also have 2 very good friends who are also coworkers. Do I tell them first but swear them to secrecy? Do I tell my boss first? I even considered getting all 3 in the same room and break the news at the same time... What do you guys think?
Is it appropriate to wear makeup at work in front of male coworkers? I heard someone saying it's inappropriate but, I found one of the female coworkers wearing makeup while she was talking to me. She just took out her nail-polish, full coverage brush and blush from her handbag and started applying the blush while talking to me. So, if you apply makeup in front of a male coworker and if the guy gives you a compliment, will you feel comfortable? Or, will you just file a harassment complaint?
How does your company deal with rude coworkers? My biggest complaint is the radio at my job. I work in a laboratory where space is limited. I have 15 coworkers, but the same 3 always dominate what everyone else listens to on the radio -- usually sucky rap, or a station that plays the same 10 songs over and over. Some of my other coworkers grumble about the choice and volume of music, and short of breaking the radio, what can we do? I don't want to fight fire with fire. I have already spoke with the boss of the department where the radio is located, and I really don't want to get human resources involved but I don't feel I have another choice. It is also obvious that one of the three intentionally turns up the volume to avoid communicating with another coworker they do not get along with -- and will sometimes even put on bad country music just to piss people off. Any useful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
What do I do about my coworkers badgering me about my productivity ? Our supervisor put up a productivity chart yesterday showing our productivity . . I am on the top of the chart I closed twice as many workorders as the next person on the chart . . now my coworkers are telling me to slow down . . I don't want to . . I like finishing my work and being able to goof around at work . .but I don't like the way my coworkers are treating me now . . a coworker just came by and said "please don't tell me your done with your workorders all ready" I told her I was and offered to assist her with her's but she got angry and snapped at me like I was trying to get her fired . . I hate this I feel like crying or ripping that chart off the wall
How do you convey to coworkers nicely that something is none of their business? I missed a lot of work a while back due to a medical condition, and I felt that I had to tell my coworkers what my medical condition was in order for them to understand the severity of what I was dealing with. But now, months later they keep asking me to give them updates about how such and such condition is, and I would really rather not talk about it any further to any of them. I appreciate that they are concerned, but it is none of their business. So how do I politely tell them to leave me alone?
What social activities with coworkers do you enjoy? Our Engineering Department (we're software developers) does stuff together regularly outside of (or during) work. Somethings we've done so far: Potlucks (at work) Picnics (with families) Paintball Indoor Go-cart Racing What are some things you've done with coworkers that you recommend?
How do you tell coworkers to NOT touch your monitor? I have two big expensive monitors at my work station and coworkers are always touching and poking the screens. When I tell them outright to not touch the monitor, some people take offense. Is there a surefire/tactful way to get the point across? I even have "stabbers" that poke so hard that it blackens the screen.
Is it legal for employers to make you sign a contract that prohibits disclosing your wage to coworkers? I signed a contract from my employers that said it was a terminable offense to disclose my wage to my coworkers. I heard in a class that the law prohibits employers from doing this but i can't find that information anywhere. I want to find the exact law before i confront my boss. Some of my coworkers make more than me even though it is the same job. It is not based on merit or seniority. I would appreciate any information that would lead me in the right direction.
What is an appropriate gift for a coworkers daughter? My coworkers daughter is getting married in august and I was invited. I am 23 yrs old and am on a tight budget. I have never met the bride or groom before. I will be going with my boyfriend and was just wondering what an appropriate gift would be. I was thinking $100 but is that too little?
I miss my old coworkers... How long does it take to get used to a new environment? Today was my first day at my new job, and my new boss and coworkers seem very nice. However, for some reason, I really miss my old coworkers. It feels so strange at the new place, everything is so different. Is this normal? How long does it take for you to adjust to the new environment? I am not depress or anything, but I just really miss the guys around my cubicle...
Are many women competitive and unsupportive of their female coworkers? I was listening to cosmo radio while having access to XM for a week. A female coworker finds it hilarious. A topic was women in the workplace. The host made the statement about women being competitive with each other and not necessarily as good coworkers. So, is this the case in the work world? Do you have specific examples? I work in male dominated industry so I have a limited frame of reference.
How can I look smarter than my coworkers? My coworkers all have (or pretend to have) extensive vocabularies, and I am barely keeping my head above water trying to keep up with them. Even following conversations sometimes makes me black out from all the effort.
What do you do when coworkers turn against you? If a former friend/coworker starts telling people not to trust you and than the other coworkers/friends starts to ignore you and give you bad comments. What do you do? I work with these people who were once cool with me and now because I am no longer friends with one person the rest are mean to me. I work in a call center and it sucks to not have anyone to talk to. Nobody is on my side or talks to me. So lonely at work now
How is the mood of your coworkers, when you first see them in the morning? My coworkers are an unfriendly lot. Most will not talk to anyone until at least 11 in the morning. Most of us do not do any real work until at least 10:30, instead we just play with the Internet. Hardly a friendly word is exchanged until people load up on coffee and walk off the hangover from last nights drinking. How are your coworkers in the morning?
Should I act a little cold around coworkers whenever I start working? People tell me to just be myself, but I'm scared that being myself I might accidentally let my guard down & allow bad people to use me. I remember hearing stories from my mom & aunt back when they working about fellow coworkers who tried to screw them over. Thus, should I act a little gothic/emotionless when I'm around coworkers to let them know that I ain't taking no negative, backstabbing crap?
How do I tell coworkers to back off without showing that I am angry or hurt? My coworkers think it is appropriate to point out how much weight I've gained in my hips since I got pregnant. I'm only 16 weeks so right now I look more fat than preggo! It makes me really self concious about my weight since I have never been overweight in my life. I feel like if I tell them it bothers me, it's going to come out wrong like with anger or hurt. I need these people to respect me as I am their supervisor, but we work very closely together so it also needs to be a comfortable atmosphere for all of us. HELP!
What should I do now that I found out my coworkers make more than I do? Both of my coworkers make more than I do. Our department consist of just us three. The male co worker and I started around the same time. Actually I started 2 months before he did. The female coworker, started more than a year after I did. I actually helped train her and received my registration before she did. The job that I do should be on a higher pay scale than both of them, but we all have the same job title so I wasn't too worried about making more. I went to school for this job and my female coworker received on the job training. Is this discrimination?
How can I get my coworkers to stop doing this? My coworkers keep trying to set me up with somebody at work because I'm single. I'm not interested in anybody at work romantically and I feel that dating a coworker would be unprofessional. My managers see me as a hard worker and they all think I do a good job. One of my managers also said that I was one of their sweetest workers. I also feel like if I did, they'd stop taking me seriously.
What should I give my closest coworkers for Christmas? I'm giving 17 of my coworkers handmade soap that I will purchase through Etsy. However, there are 4 of my coworkers that I am extremely close with (I should just call them friends). I'm not sure what I should purchase for them...something that is inexpensive and fun!
How do I tell coworkers I need more personal space? I'm just one of those that needs my space and my coworkers always come up and lean on the back of my chair or hang on my shoulder while they talk to me as I'm sitting at my desk. One gal even SITS on the edge of my desk. I feel like I can't move or breath. Is this claustrophobic? I've always been this way, but I've never worked in a place where so many people are this touchy-feely. I don't want to be rude, so how do I let them know it bothers me? Thanks for the suggestions.
How often should my coworkers bathe? I work in an office, some of us have our own offices, some of us have cubicles. How often should my coworkers bathe? How much did people like Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson bathe?
What should I expect if I go to a Happy Hour with coworkers? I've been to bars/clubs, but not a happy hour before. From what I know, there are reduced prices. I'm thinking of going to a happy hour with my coworkers sometime next month, so what should I expect? I'm assuming theres going to be drinking, but will there be dancing as well? This is going to be a very casual meeting, so what should I come to expect? Could some of you share your experiences please, that would be much appreciated.
Should my husband take coworkers off his phone favorites list? He had an affair with a coworker and is rebuilding trust. I hate seeing women coworkers names next to mine on his favorites. So I nicely told him it bothered me and could he take them off. He got angry and said he has to call them and it's just quicker--Get over it.
what gifts can i give my coworkers for thanksgiving? I work as a sale associate at a clothing retail store. I'll be working with everyone this friday for black friday, and I know it's the day after thanksgiving, but I wanted to give something to my coworkers. Since I'm not working today, I though I would give them on Friday. I was thinking of just making little goody bags with chocolates and sweets, does it sound too cheap? I can't afford anything big, but I wanted to give something to everyone. Does anyone have any ideas?
My coworkers are having problems with the company? My coworkers have no papers. They are imigrants, and work with no papers,But the problem is that they work alot of overtime and my boss does not pay their overtime only the 40 hours a week. And they ask me to try to find out what can they do.I mean they work alot sometimes up to 52 hours a week and they dont get pay for overtime. What can they do about this situation?
Do your coworkers ever show you pics of their kids? Does it get on your nerves, too? I honestly don't care what little Johnny or Susie is doing now, nor do I want to spend any amount of time at work looking at the resemblance and thinking of the horrible lives these poor kids are going to have when they grow up to look like their incredibly unattractive and lazy parents. How do you politely tell your coworkers that no, their kids aren't adorable, you're not impressed that they can ride a bike at the ripe age of 9 and they should get some work done for once in their miserable lives?
What is the best way to confront my coworkers about taking all my candy out of my candy jar at work? I have a candy jar that I keep on my desk at work, and I keep it there obviously to share, however, my coworkers are getting greedy and there have been times when I just filled it (I fill it with miniature chocolates usually) and come back from my day off to find it completely EMPTY! I'm getting frustrated, because this is averaging me filling it twice a week , and spending around 60 bucks a month on this candy jar. I know I put it there for everyone to enjoy, so do I have the right to say something about this??
Outlook - How do coworkers in multiple timezones handle all day events in Outlook? Microsoft Outlook displays my all day events properly to me, but my coworkers in other timezones see the events spread to an extra day. The same thing happens when they place an all day event on the calendar, it shows up covering an extra day on my calendar. How can I get all day events to show up properly on everyones' calendar? I imagine there is a one time solution that is fairly easy... but I'd much prefer a permanent solution.
How do I address a wedding inviation to my coworkers? I'm sending one invitation to my office. On the outer envelope I am planning on putting the company I work for and address. On the inner envelope should I write out all eleven coworkers (and their guests?) or how should this be handled? All of my coworkers are invited as well as their guests... but that would save us like twenty invitations if we just had one for each office..... and there I'm not having RSVPs.... Thanks for your advice. However, working at this bank over the last several years I have received several invitations inviting everyone from the bank to come. I'm not RSVPing because we're serving refreshments and you can pretty much estimate the number of people that will typically show up. My wedding coordinator said if I invite 200 people we would have enough food to feed 150.
How do I get my super religious coworkers to leave the religion at home??? I'm going crazy. My boss and a good percentage of my coworkers are "born again", and very vocal about it. They know they bother me, but they seem to think it is their duty to spout off daily sermons and blast christian rock, or else they are doing a disservice to God. Should I quit? This way of being is so deeply embedded in them that I doubt they will change. I think I'm going to quit. I’m not asking anyone to “deny” their beliefs, I’m just asking them to be respectful of my beliefs as well as theirs. I have been so tolerant and open to these people for the past two years, without getting the same in return, and I’ve had enough. Every time I have expressed a belief of mine that does not fall into place with the “born again” belief system, I get my head chewed off. THEY are the ones who are disrespecting me! The idea that Jesus is my Lord is crazy. Jesus was an amazing, revolutionary, wise MAN, and I have a great admiration for him. I think Jesus would be seriously offended by the way he is marketed by the Christian faith today. Oh, and my company is pretty small, so I am the HR department. haha.
If I give a two weeks notice, will my supervisor tell my coworkers? I am looking for a new job and want to give my supervisor a two weeks notice, but I don't want my coworkers to know that I am leaving. If I ask him not to tell other employees will he have to honor that or does he have the right to tell everyone. I asked my last employer not to tell and he did. I don't want my coworkes to know because they would make my last two weeks miserable.
We are planning a kids Christmas party. How do we put an age limit on it without offending our coworkers? Last year some of the 8 and 9 year olds were making reference to the fact that Santa was not real - in front of the young children. How do we tactfully say that we would like to keep the mystery of Santa alive for the younger children without offending our coworkers (company party). We don't necessarily want to put and age limit on it we just want them to ask that their children be respectful of those who still believe.
How to work with awful coworkers? My coworkers are socially awkward. They don't have a sense of humor or understand mine. They are either unable to answer a question or over answer a question. They also make fun of me for being Asian, short and young. I need tips on how to work and do my job without being so annoyed and infuriated every day at work.
How to patch things up with coworkers? I hate it when my girlfriend belches really loud and she hates my really smelly farts. She likes to have her butt eaten out which I hate to do, and I love getting head which she hates to do. So when she wants her butt eaten out she burps constantly until I give in and do it, and when I want some head, I give her dutch ovens until she gives in. When I shared this with my coworkers, they looked at me like I was crazy. How can I get them to talk to me again?
How can I be more outgoing with my coworkers? What are ways to start conversations with coworkers? I just started a new job and I want to make friends at work, but I'm naturally a pretty shy person except for dumb stuff like 'Where do we keep the coffee filters?' any ideas?
